Major museums around the world start banning selfie sticks

If you love carrying your selfie stick around with you everywhere, you might want to keep those at home or at the hotel room when you plan on visiting museums. Some of the museums that have banned the use of these selfie accessories include the Smithsonian, Louvre, MOMA and Met museums in New York, Washington DC’s National Gallery of Art, LA’s Getty Center, Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and Seattle’s Museum of Art. Aside from that a formal ban is pending at Versailles palace and Centre Pompidou in France. Perhaps it’s time you wean yourself off them, right?

Photo backup on Android might come to Google Drive soon

With Google splitting up its Google+ services into standalone apps, it would seem photos will need to find a new place for backing them up. Google is reportedly going to bring it to Google Drive. Android Police found in the latest version of the cloud storage app preliminary code that allows for an eventual photo backup. It would work much like Google+ and Photos app. It might even get Chromecast streaming support. We’re not sure yet if this’ll show up in the next release but we’re going to keep our eye out for it if it does.

Groot from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ to star in his own Marvel comic

If you don’t know who Groot is at this point, we’d think you are living under a rock at the bottom of a cliff. The lovable yet dangerous walking and talking tree from the Guardians of the Galaxy will be getting his own comic book series from Marvel. Issue one for Groot’s story seems to already be in the can but there is no word yet when they will release it.

The story will apparently focus on Groot’s backstory and how he met and teamed up with Rocket Raccoon. Comedy TV writer Jeff Loveness will write the story and art will be done by Brian Kesinger. Are you excited for a Groot comic? Will you read it?

Goodyear hopes to use concept tires to power electric cars

In the future even your electric car’s tires will help power the vehicle, at least that’s what Goodyear wants. The company unveiled its BH03 concept tire at the Geneva International Auto Show. It works by converting the heat it builds up while driving on the road through friction that builds up while in motion. While it’s parked though, a thermo-piezoelectic layer can also help collect heat. The small patches on the tire’s surface can draw heat directly from the sun, so if you’re parked outside on a hot summer’s day, this can also generate power.

Since this is still a concept though, details are a bit scarce. Plus, there is no mention yet how the electricity will make it way to the engine to power the car.
