Google Apps add conversion support for another 15 Microsoft Office file types

Luring in more and more Office users, Google has updated its cloud office suite to add support for 15 more file types. Just like with the other file types, you can edit the files listed below as you please after Google converts them. However, some things do get lost in the conversion. Macros, for example, are removed from macro file formats but you do get to keep the original file on Google Drive so you can reference those.

Here are the list of the newly supported formats:

  • dot, dotx, dotm, docm conversions to Google Docs

  • xlt, xltx, xltm, xlsm conversions to Google Sheets

  • pot, potx, potm, pptm, pps, ppsx, ppsm conversions to Google Slides
