link-U Hybrid SmartCam: The IP camera that keeps going

What use is an IP camera when your internet or power is down? Now, you don’t have to worry about either with the new link-U Hybrid SmartCam. The product is up for funding on Indiegogo for those interested in a new kind of IP camera. The smart cam is equipped with what is called hybrid technology and comes with “dual power, dual connectivity” features. These mean the link-U Hybrid is powered by standard PoE and a back-up 8-hour battery. It also uses both Internet/LAN access and 3G/4G connectivity. The camera can also be used to live stream or record events using SD Memory Card, Google Drive, or iCloud Drive.

Hacked screenshots show support for money transfer on Facebook Messenger

Facebook might soon let you transfer money to your loved ones on its standalone messaging app.  Based on hacked screenshots taken by Stanford computer science student Andrew Aude, there is a button to initiate and send money. And you don't have to worry about your News Feed knowing about the transaction since it is kept private.

There will be an in-app pincode you have to enter to make sure the money goes to the intended individual. According to Aude, the feature currently only allows money transfer using a debit card.

Microsoft RoomAlive turns your room into an Xbox game

Microsoft hopes to bring augmented reality gaming into your whole living room with its new proof-of-concept demo, RoomAlive. The concept makes use of six Kinect sensors and projectors to create that AR experience in a room. It'll let you reach out to hit objects or interact with the game using any surface in the room. Of course, it'll be too expensive to bring this setup to the market at the moment but Microsoft is hoping this will be part of the future of gaming.

Netflix gets visual with new Android update

Netflix is giving its Android users a more visual look at their search field with its latest update. The improved visual search shows you cover art of movies and TV shows, which means you see more without having to scroll as much.

Netflix subscribers can also manage their subscriptions right from their Android tablet and smartphone. The app supports background playback with notifications so you can quickly resume what you are watching.
