OnePlus One Bamboo back plate now available, starts shipping in August

OnePlus One has said their device will have a Moto X-like customizability for its handset, meaning there would be interchangeable back covers for the device. The first cover their offering is bamboo back cover, which retails for US$49 on the OnePlus Store and start shipping at the end of August. It is admittedly a bit costly and it will be sold separately from the device. This is where it differs from the Moto X, which lets you customize the phone before it is sent to you. But if you want to change up your device’s look, then best be ready to shell out money for it. The other covers that might come in the future include denim, various kinds of wood, as well as Kevlar.

Apple patent shows off potential features of ‘iTime’ smartwatch

The tech world has been calling Apple’s much-rumoured smartwatch “iWatch.”  Now, a new patent granted to the company by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office calls the device as “iTime” and reveals some of the features we might see from Apple’s wearable device. The smartwatch will reportedly support arm and wrist gestures with a sensor-filled strap, meaning you can flick your wrist to answer a call or something. The device itself can also be taken out of the strap (much like how the iPod nano can be attached and taken out of its strap). It will have a square-shaped design and have accelerometers, GPS modules, haptic feedback, and Wi-Fi radios.  We’re not sure if this will be what Apple’s wearable device will be like or when it will come out but we will keep you posted on any significant update.

Uber makes a Windows Phone debut, misses a few features

Terry Myerson, executive vice president of Operating Systems for Microsoft, kicked off the release of the Uber app as our rider zero on his way to the Microsoft Global Exchange conference in Atlanta.

Windows Phone users how have been missing Uber on their device can breathe a sigh of relief now. Uber is making its way to the platform. However, it is missing a few key features. There isn’t any in-app fare quotes, fare splitting option, and shareable trip information. The other things you can do though include locking in a location, calling for a ride, and sort payments. It still has the basics down. We just hope they get those missing features back soon.
