New Nokia patent to allow gesture recognition that starts or ends outside the screen

According to WMpoweruser, the gesture capability can be used to dial numbers, launch search inside apps or for universal search, and open applications. Hopefully this feature comes out soon so we can try it out ourselves.

‘Star Wars Episode VII’ to take place 30 years after ‘Return of the Jedi’

The news about the new Star Wars have started to trickle in. Lucasfilm and Disney have just announced that the latest film will take place 30 years after Return of the Jedi and will feature new young leads “along with some very familiar faces.” Rumours have been going around that Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill will reprise their roles as Han Solo, Leia Organa, and Luke Skywalker. Return of the Jedi came out in 1983 so the older actors’ ages will bring that in alignment with their characters’ ages.

Filming will reportedly start in May at Pinewood Studios in London. The production will be directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams.

Sonos unveils refreshed Controller app for Android, iOS version to follow

Sonos aims to make it easier for you to navigate through its Controller application with 5.0 version of the app. Central to the app’s redesign is the search function. It lets users look for any artist, song, or album across the many services Sonos uses (such as Rdio, Spotify, Pandora, iTunes, etc.). The user interface is easier to navigate and it lets you control multiple rooms at once. You can choose to play different songs from various services or have everything playing the same thing. A discovery feature has also been added to help you find new tunes. The iOS update will reportedly come out in the spring.
