Google Hangouts update creates single thread for text messages and chats from same sender

Google updated its Hangouts app to consolidate your text and chat messages from the same sender into a single thread. Just in case you get confused about what kind of message your contact sent you, Google has color-coded the messages. You can also reply using either method and separate the messages as well. Google has also split your Hangouts and phone contacts list to make it easier to search through them. The company has also updated video call quality and the home screen widget.

Minimalistic text editor Writebox syncs with the cloud

If you are in search of a plain text editor on your browser or on your Android or iOS devices, Writebox is worth a look, especially since it syncs with Dropbox and Google Drive. Writebox syncs your text files to these cloud services and across all the devices you use so you’d get the latest version of your file. The app is as simple a text editor as you can expect without formatting tools. The most you can do is set font and size. But some of us would need just that. You can also download the file as text or HTML. Writebox is free from the Chrome Web Store or for online but costs $1.99 for Android and iOS versions.

Seems Google let the arrival of its next update slip through the changelog of one of its apps. The Google Edu Device Setup app, an app designed to help schools setup tablets, has been updated to support Android 4.4.3. This version of Android hasn’t really been announced yet but it would seem the new update will be coming soon. We all just have to wait a bit more.
