Pinterest working on incorporating ads with promoted pins experiment

Pinterest has announced an advertising/monetization experiment that will have promoted pins appear in search results and category feeds. This experiment, Pinterest CEO and founder Ben Silbermann explains, is not yet going to charge businesses as they want to obtain user feedback first.

Silbermann assures Pinterest users that the ads will be done in a tasteful manner, are going to indicate that they are ads, and are going to be relevant to your interests. 

Adobe takes on hardware with Project Mighty and Napoleon, set to launch in 2014

Adobe has revealed back in May that they were working on hardware to couple their Creative Cloud suite dubbed Project Mighty, an internet-connected stylus, and Project Napoleon, a digital ruler. Now, these concepts are said to be graduating from experiments to full-blown products set to be shipped in the first half of 2014. The products will be made in cooperation with Adonit.

On the software side, Adobe talked about two new products that will complement the hardware. One is Project Parallel, a drafting iPad app, and the other is Project Contour, which is essentially Kuler for shapes. It allows you to take photos of your favorite shape or object on an iPhone and access it with the Napoleon on the iPad to help simplify architectural line sketching, drawing, and ideation.

YouTube to roll out offline viewing feature for mobile devices

YouTube is testing out a new feature that will enable users who watch videos on the site’s mobile app to do so even if they’re offline. You will be able to add videos to your devices that you can watch for a short period of time even if you aren’t connected to the internet. Think of it as a good morning commute companion. The said feature is going to be available in November. We’ll keep you posted on any developments.

UPDATE: According to Variety, Vevo is opting out of this functionality that gives you 48 hours of offline playback.

Nvidia introduces $199 Tegra Note tablet

Claiming to be the “world’s fastest 7-inch tablet,” the new Nvidia Tegra Note packs in some serious power. It is the first tablet to run on the Tegra 4 processor with a 72-core GeForce GPU and quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU, which is currently benchmarked as the fastest mobile processor on the market, and touts a 10-hour HD video playback capability.

The stylus-supported device features a 1,280 x 800 pixel IPS display, 5-megapixel rear and front facing HD camera, and the latest “100% Android” operating system. Nvidia has yet to specific a release date for the Tegra Note though.
