Samsung's Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Pro get FCC certified ahead of rumoured July launch

Samsung is supposedly preparing to launch the Galaxy Watch6 and its Pro version in July. Ahead of that, the two smartwatches have passed the FCC certification in the US, which confirms their model numbers and charger type. They will use the same charger as the Galaxy Watch5 series, which means it could retain the previous generation's charging speed.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Pro will reportedly have a physical rotating bezel and a more powerful processor. Samsung is also expected to announce the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5 foldable phones and possibly its mixed reality XR headset at its next Galaxy Unpacked event, which will take place in South Korea sometime at the end of July.

What’s new in the 2023 Motorola Razr

Photo: motorola

The 2023 motorola razr (razr 40 in some markets) is a compact and stylish foldable phone with a 1.5-inch OLED cover screen for quick access to notifications and apps. It's not as flashy as the motorola razr+, though. It has a 6.9-inch inner screen with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, a 4,200mAh battery, and wireless charging. It also boasts a 64-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, a 13-megapixel ultrawide and macro lens, as well as a 32-megapixel selfie camera. The Razr comes in three vegan leather colours picked in partnership with Pantone: Sage Green, Vanilla Cream, and Summer Lilac.

Like the razr+, it has an IP52 rating for water and dust resistance and will receive three operating system upgrades and four years of security updates. motorola has not announced the price or availability of the razr yet, but it is expected to be significantly cheaper than the razr+. If you're wondering why you'll pick this over the razr+, motorola is pitching this razr as a device for those who want to spend less time looking at their phone.

Motorola’s new Razr+ is a foldable phone with a huge cover screen

Motorola has just announced its latest foldable phone, the Razr+ (or Razr 40 Ultra in other markets), which features a massive 3.6-inch OLED cover screen that lets you do almost anything without opening the phone. The Razr+ also has a 6.9-inch inner OLED screen with a 165Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, and a 12-megapixel main camera paired with a 13-megapixel ultrawide with a 108-degree field of view and a 32-megapixel quad-pixel selfie camera. It will be available on June 16 online and on June 23 at carriers at CAD 1,299 in three colours: Infinite Black, Glacier Blue, and Viva Magenta.

The Razr+ is Motorola's latest effort to revive the iconic flip phone design of the original Razr. The company has made significant changes to the new model, such as ditching the large chin at the bottom and adding a protective layer to the inner screen. The Razr+ also supports 5W wireless charging and has an IP52 rating for dust and water resistance.

Garmin Fenix 7 Pro targets serious explorers

Garmin has launched the Fenix 7 Pro series, joining the new Epix Pro line. The Fenix 7 Pro series includes solar charging, a powerful LED flashlight, mapping upgrades and a red safety light, all of which are intended to provide greater awareness when training in the dark. The heart rate sensor also got a significant boost, with new optical sensors and sport-specific algorithms that track your pulse rate across a diverse array of activities. However, there is no ECG app, so you'll have to look elsewhere if that's a primary concern.

The Fenix 7 Pro series also introduces a new endurance score and hill score features. The former measures how easy it is to engage in prolonged physical activities, while the latter uses your training data and VO2 Max to gauge your running strength on steep climbs and long ascents. The Fenix 7 Pro boasts an updated mapping system with weather overlays, points of interest and improvements to topographic maps. There are also new preloaded activities like whitewater rafting and motocross. The Fenix 7 Pro is available in multiple sizes and designs, starting at USD 800 (around CAD 1,083).
