Microsoft technology improves response time, expands reach to help bring missing children home

In Canada, 41,000 children are reported missing every year. The Missing Children Society of Canada (MCSC) uses a mix of mobile and social technology to create its emergency response Search Program, including the Most Valuable Network™ (MVN) platform which sends time-sensitive alerts and information to Canadians to help recover missing children across Facebook and Twitter. 

The first hours a child is missing are by far the most critical. That’s why the MCSC knew they needed the social media alerts from their MVN application to go out faster. The program was growing fast, and their legacy system was struggling to keep up. That meant the alerts were taking up to an hour to be sent out.

YouTube to stream the first weekend of Coachella live

YouTube is bringing the world to the Coachella concert by streaming various days of the week-long concert.Canadian music fans can get closer to the music they love and catch performances from emerging artists to the biggest acts on Coachella’s YouTube Channel from April 15 to 17 on any screen they watch YouTube.

Starting Friday, April 15th at 6:30 pm ET, YouTube will live stream performances from over 70 acts, from emerging artists to some of today’s biggest artists.

TomTom launches TomTom City, includes Toronto and Vancouver as traffic information sources

TomTom City – a new traffic portal that provides live traffic and travel information for consumers and traffic management experts. This new service showcases the extensive range of traffic information available on a city by city basis and will provide a platform to connect traffic authorities, businesses and citizens to jointly manage sustainable and efficient mobility.

TomTom City, which can be found at http://city.tomtom.com, is accessible from any internet enabled computer, tablet or smartphone and provides freely accessible content showing live traffic status and incidents and other driver-based information in cities. This will enable consumers to check their journey routes first and plan the best route. Furthermore by also being accessible to traffic management experts, traffic issues can now be dealt with even more quickly. The initial launch of 25 cities in 18 countries will expand to include more cities and products throughout the year.

Heineken unveils innovative BrewLock system

Heineken is setting up a pop-up shop in downtown Toronto for the weekend to demonstrate its new BrewLock technology. Designed to slowly replace draught kegs, the smaller BrewLock canisters are the next innovation since steel kegs replaced oak barrels and guarantee the beer's freshness and ensure the same standard of taste without using CO2 as well as being completely recyclable.

Heineken took over 363 King Street West in downtown Toronto and featured the BrewLock canisters in place of kegs where they showed us how to pour the perfect pint.
