Review: Amazon Kindle Oasis

I brought the newest version of the Amazon Kindle Oasis (3rd generation) on my most recent getaway. A family member had questioned why I would bring another device when I could bring my phone and pretty much do everything on it. While I can add the Kindle app onto my iPhone and take it on the go, the truth is, I like to separate my enjoyment of reading from any tasks I do on my phone. This also means I less distractions and I can stay more focused on the book. I'm too easily tempted to check my emails or Instagram or Telegram on a whim. There. I admit it. Review: Kindle Oasis (2017)

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

2017 marks the 10th year anniversary of the Kindle eBook reader which is truly one of the revolutionary inventions of our time.

Amazon now offers a waterproof Kindle Oasis eReader

Amazon.ca announced its most advanced Kindle ever – the all-new Kindle Oasis.  It is the first-ever waterproof Kindle, boasting an IPX8 water resistance rating. Designed so readers can take their favourite stories even more places, it is protected against immersion in up to two meters of fresh water for up to 60 minutes. Plus, it’s designed to withstand getting splashed at the beach or dropped in the bath tub, hot tub, or pool.

With a larger 7-inch and 300 ppi display, it also fits over 30 per cent more words per page for fewer page turns. Plus, it has the fastest page turns of any Kindle. Despite an even larger display, the all-new Kindle Oasis weighs only 194 grams, 10 grams less than the best-selling Kindle Paperwhite.

Amazon goes thin, light and premium with new Kindle Oasis

Amazon wants to make eReaders exciting again by introducing the thinnest and lightest Kindle reader ever. The Kindle Oasis is a reinvention of their popular reader and is 30% thinner on average and over 20% lighter than any other Kindle. It is also the most expensive Kindle we've seen in years starting at $399.99.

Kindle Oasis—the eighth generation of Kindle—crafted from the ground up for readers, with an all-new, incredibly thin and light design, plus an included charging cover that delivers months of battery life. Kindle Oasis is available for pre-order today for $399.99 and will start shipping in the coming weeks. Meet Kindle Oasis at www.amazon.ca/kindleoasis.

“To lean back and read for hours, you need a sanctuary from distraction,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com Founder and CEO. “We want Kindle to disappear, and Kindle Oasis is the next big step in that mission. It’s the most advanced Kindle we’ve ever built—thin and ultra-lightweight, it gets out of the way so you can lose yourself in the author’s world.”
