FITC marks 15th year as Canada's biggest digital event on April 17-19

There’s no event quite like it, and it marks a huge milestone this year. Year after year, FITC lights creative fires under the industry with inspiring talks from creative technologists who shape the future. In addition to its a jaw-dropping list of leading digital innovator talks and workshops in tech and other creative industries, FITC is also set to kick off its 15th anniversary with the theme ‘Level Up’.

“Level up - your skills, your connections, your inspiration,” explains Toronto-based FITC Founder, Shawn Pucknell. “This year we want creative technologists from around the world to Toronto to feel the milestone. Android Pay prepares for its British Invasion

Android Pay is fast gaining ground and is aiming to unveil its services in the U.K. which is usually a good test bed for the rest of Europe as well as other countries in the world. Android Pay uses secure applications as well as NFC to enable touchless mobile payments.

Google has announced that it is to launch its Android Pay mobile payment service in the UK within the “next few months.” Supporting banks will include Bank of Scotland, First Direct,Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds Bank, M&S Bank, MBNA and Nationwide Building Society, “with new banks being added all the time,” according to Google. Android Pay is not available in Canada at this time.

Toyota's 2017 Prius Prime tries to reinvent the hybrid platform

While popular in certain markets, Toyota's long standing Prius line of hybrid electric passenger cars would never win awards for styling or looks. This is all about to change with the redesigned Prius Prime which brings a new look and upgrades many of the key Prius features.

Essentially the second generation of the Prius line, the Prius Prime adds a bigger battery pack and a range of 22 miles (35 kilometres) on its electric component. In terms of styling, the front end of the Prius Prime has been boldly redesigned and looks more in tune with current Toyota models.

Chevy's Camaro ZL1 Convertible debuts at New York Auto Show

Defying the norm of having convertible versios of coupes sporting less power and performance than their hardtop versions, the new 2017 Camaro ZL1  offers performance parity with the coupe. The Camaro ZL1 convertible, which goes on sale in early 2017, offers higher levels of technology, refinement, track capability and straight-line acceleration.

“The Camaro ZL1 is designed to excel at everything,” said Mark Reuss, executive vice president of Global Product Development. “It’s a 2+2 coupe offering incredible performance – acceleration, handling and braking – with the highest levels of technology and perfect chassis damping, making it suitable for everyday driving. It will compare well to any sports coupe, at any price and in any setting.”
