Google celebrates Chrome's 10th anniversary with a design overhaul

No browser has endured longer and evolved as much as Google Chrome. Considered the dominant web browser on desktops and on mobile and which has also been spun off as a cloud operating system, Google celebrated the first 10 years of Chrome by redesigning the browser's look and feel across the line.

On the PC and Mac, we're seeing rounded tabs, a pill-shaped search area and refined elements

Chrome Browser will have a new design across all operating systems. Highlights include Microsoft Windows 10® notification-center integration, touchpad gesture navigation on Windows, and autofill updates.

If you want to get the redesign try entering the Chrome flag URLs below into the address bar and selecting the appropriate option from the dropdown menu. To get the latest features be sure to enable them in Chrome Beta 69.

See Childish Gambino's "This is America," video converted into pixel art using an old Macintosh

Childish Gambino's music video for "This is America," is a stunning and jaw-dropping performance piece that's dripping with symbols and allegorical scenarios set to a dramatic music video the likes of which we haven't seen before. Re-created pixel by pixel on an old (as in, really old) Macintosh SE running Macromind Director, the artist @Pinot (Wahyu Ichwandardi) took on the monumental task of partially capturing the spirit of the music video. It's impressive that we can still use obsolete technology to create digital art.

Latest Google Pixel 3 XL leak comes from back of a Lyft

It's remarkable how crazy this year's been for major smartphone launch leaks. No major smartphone manufacturer has been spared by early and embarrassing looks at their upcoming products and now Google has had another major Pixel 3 XL leak from the most unlikely source.

We get to see a real-live Pixel 3 XL, this isn't from a stolen pallet of devices or from a publicly accessible video stream but from the back of a Lyft. Someone with early access to the device left it in a Lyft car they were riding. Coincidentally, the Lyft driver mistook the lost phone for his own Pixel 2 XL (what are the chances). The driver noticed the large notch on the face of the the phone and realized he was looking at a still unannounced Google Pixel XL.

The story has a happy ending as the owner and the Pixel 3 XL were reunited, but not before the Lyft driver took a bunch of photos of the device and shared it with the world at larger. So here we are, another look at what Google has in store come October.

Apple opts to repair 'small number' of iPhone 8 models with faulty logic boards

Apple has acknowledged that a small number of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus smartphones may be shutting down or becoming non-responsive due to a faulty logic board stemming from a manufacturing error. These iPhone 8's were sold in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, New Zealand and the U.S. between September 2017 and March 2018.

Apple says that taking the affected devices to an Apple Retail Store will have the specialists performa a quick check to see if these are indeed faulty and Apple will repair these smartphones for free. The issue cannot be fixed in store, so customers will need to spend a few days without a phone.
