Apple's missing AirPower mystery deepens

Apple's AirPower charger, a multifunctional wireless charging dock for iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods, was announced nearly a year ago during the iPhone X launch. AirPower served as an ideal accessory for users invested in the Apple lifestyle, a singular place where they could charge all their devices wirelessly.

AirPower was conspicuously absent during today's iPhone Xs and iPhone Xr launch, even if these new iPhones can supposedly charge wirelessly at a faster rate than previous iPhones. Apple analysts also noted that there was no mention of inductive or wireless charging during the keynote which made it clear that Apple didn not want to go there.

Google confirms Pixel 3 event for October 9

Folliowing in the deluge of major technology fall launches, Google is expected to reveal its latest Pixel 3 smartphones and other Made By Google devices on October 9.

October has become Google's time to launch its range of new products and services. On tap this year are the two vastly leaked Pixel 3 devices. We expect two smartphones with the larger model featuring the edge-to-edge-display and new notch. We might see some exclusive Android Pie features on the new Pixel 3s. I'm expecting some new gesture and voice-based features as well as a lengthy list of camera updates for these new phones. Hit jump for an overview of what we can expect.

Microsoft launching new Surface devices in NY on October 2nd

A recent invitation to media from Microsoft earmarks October 2 for a product launch event. Microsoft is expected to unveil a refreshed line of Surface devices lkely sporting the latest 8th Gen Intel Core processors. Recent discounts on Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models hint that these could be the two lines receiving updated hardware, possible inclusion of USB Type-C charging as well as improved battery life and LTE connectivity as an option.

The Surface Studio, Microsoft's ambitious 2-in-1 desktop which wowed a lot of creatives and professional users, was a big release two-years ago although it sported a rather anemic processors. Giving this line a boost, and possible offering a choice of sizes for this device, could spur some more adoption, specially for photographers, videographers and illustrators.
