Big Audio Dynamite: The Google Home Max Review

One of the more interesting segments in consumer electronics is the smart speaker market. Smart speakers are exciting because they are a culmination of various intersecting technologies. You have cloud computing, A.I., voice assistants and you also have audio technology.

Watching the smart speaker segment progress is like watching an intense chess game with each speaker release quickly countering a rival's previous move. One opponent releases an Amazon Echo, Google counters with Google Home. Amazon introduces the Echo Dot, Google rolls out the Google Home mini. Sonos unveils Sonos One, Apple drops the HomePod. What's more surprising is that none of these products were available three years ago.

Google's Home Max is a two-move checkmate, it follows the small and affordable Google Home mini and the original Google Home with a large format, hifi-focused smart speaker. I have been using the Google Home Max for close to four weeks as the main music source in my bedroom. Here's my review.

Samsung Canada announced the four winning schools in the 2018 Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Challenge. Today, Samsung Canada announced the final four regional winners in its annual Solve for Tomorrow Challenge, a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)-based education initiative that seeks to ignite student passion in these subjects. This year, Bernice MacNaughton High School (Moncton, NB), Thornlea Secondary School (Thornhill, ON), Meadows West School (Winnipeg, MB) and Westwood Community High School (Fort McMurray, AB) will each receive $20,000 in Samsung technology as a result of their creative and collaborative STEM solutions to real-world issues facing their communities.

Uber makes it easier to get to and from Toronto Pearson Airport

Uber has made it easier to get to and from Toronto Pearson Airport which is one of North America's largest and busiest airports. Uber users can simply request a ride that suits their size and luggage requirements, order an Uber and choose a pickup location. There are designated pickup areas to make things more convenient. It seems that rival Lyft also has airport pickup privileges at Pearson.

Sony drops the mic with stunning 'Marvel's Spider-Man' game footage at E3

Finally coming in 2018 is the much-awaited Marvel's Spider-Man which pits our favourite web slinger against his classic rogue's gallery, the Sinister Six. Judging from the E3 game footage, Spider-Man has a wide range of moves, capbilities and combo attacks. He's fast, agile and unstoppable until the members of Sinister 6 gang up on our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.
