SourceCode: Samsung ushers in new Foldable segment

We can argue about the exorbitant price, the limited availability at launch, and how no one really needs the Samsung Galaxy Fold but that would diminish what Samsung has accomplished in giving the world an entirely new Foldables category.

While Samsung’s most recent Unpacked event focused mainly on their rather iterative update to the Galaxy S line with multiple Galaxy S10 handsets raising the bar (and the price) of what Samsung flagship smartphones can offer, this moment clearly belonged to the all-new Samsung Galaxy Fold.

Being the first folding smartphone from a leading manufacturer (and available in April 2019), the Galaxy Fold puts Samsung in the driver’s seat of an entirely new product category, one that, if developed properly, might eclipse smartphones and tablets in terms of future-facing functionality.

Samsung Galaxy S10 commercial leaks before product is announced

There's very little we don't know about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S10 smartphones which are slated to be launched or unveiled soon despite various details and renders having been leaked. The latest fracas comes by way of a TV commercial of all things. Someone in Norway thought it would be hilarious to broadcast the entire 30 second advert for the new Samsung products including their new earbuds and Galaxy Gear smartwatches.

The Galaxy S10 will come with a triple-camera array. The ability to charge other devices wirelessly, have an ultrasonic fingerprint reader. Oh, and very tiny puncher-hole front facing cameras to mitigate any need for a notch.

Apple reportedly hoping to launch a 16-inch MacBook Pro

Apple might make a supersized MacBook Pro for professionals or students wanting a maximum sized portable Mac along with a 31-inch 6K monitor. There's a contingent of users who have been desiring both these products and it sounds as if Apple is open to generating more profit via diversified product lines.

Apple used to make a 17-inch MacBook Pro which many users lovingly referred to as the 'cafeteria tray' but a new 16-inch model will likely be thinner, lighter and with a much improved Retina Display. Following industry trends with bezel-less and edge-to-edge panels, Apple could give users 'a 17-inch laptop in a 15 or 16-inch body. This would be an ideal portable for coders, professional photographers, video editors and anyone wanting a big Mac laptop.

Apple is gearing up for its first product announcement of 2019 and it isn't going to be hardware. While many are waiting for the revision to the AirPods or the elusive AirPower charger but it is likely that Apple will have a content announcement to make.

There have been abundant hints that Apple's streaming service is imminent. A lot of the news out of CES 2019 was TV manufacturers including AirPlay 2 which would ensure that the latest TVs and Blu-Ray players will be able to serve as conduits for Apple's streaming service without the need for an Apple TV. As iPhone and Mac sales slow down, Apple needs to ignite new revenue streams and now might be the right time to do it.
