Amazon launches its first TV, only available in India

Amazon is another company that uses India as a testing ground for new product lines. The company just introduced two new televisions under its AmazonBasics brand. Both have Fire OS preinstalled and come with 55- and 50-inch models at US$480 (around CA$612) and US$410 (CA$522), respectively.

Like other TVs in its price range, both have 4K LED displays that support HDR 10, HLG, and Dolby Vision. And as Amazon products, these support Alexa voice remote and Fire OS 7, but the televisions don't have the newest version of its Fire TV interface. Amazon plans to introduce three additional models, with two smaller, more affordable 1080p and 720p models.

Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag images surface

The Samsung Galaxy Tag is expected to launch along with the upcoming Galaxy S21 series on January 14. And now, images of the smart tracker have surfaced as it got certified by Taiwan's NCC. The photos only show the Galaxy Smart Tag in Black, but it's expected to come in an Oatmeal (a.k.a. white) colour. It looks similar to Tile's line of smart trackers, with its diamond-like shape and a small hole up top for lanyards or key chains.

The listing doesn't reveal the Galaxy Smart Tag's features. But other certifying authorities noted that it would use a replaceable 3V button cell battery and support Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. It is rumoured to cost between €15 and 20 (around CA$23 and $31).

'Cyberpunk 2077' DLC still scheduled for 'early 2021' release

Source: CD Projekt

With all the issues CD Projekt's faced with Cyberpunk 2077, it's not surprising that people haven't paid attention to the new content for the game. Engadget points out that its initial free downloadable content is expected to hit Night City "early 2021" and that the webpage announcing this schedule went live around the same time the game launched. And it still hasn't been taken down.

The developer still has two patches it needs to roll out for last-generation console issues, which it promised to ship in January and February. CD Projekt also has tech upgrades for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but it hasn't revealed a release date yet. The developer promised a DLC rollout similar to The Witcher 3, which had 16 free DLC that came out shortly after the game's launch with additions like cosmetic upgrades, new animations, and small quest lines. If you're waiting for multiplayer mode, that's still expected beyond 2021.

OnePlus tipped to launch a budget fitness tracker

OnePlus' entry into the smartwatch/fitness tracker space will be a budget-friendly one. And it's rumoured to come to India first. The OnePlus Band will reportedly launch in the country in the first quarter of this year, carrying a price tag of around US$40 (approximately CA$51). It aims to give Xiaomi a run for its money with its budget Mi Band fitness trackers. It's expected to have an AMOLED screen, multi-day battery life, and support for water resistance.

It makes sense for OnePlus to launch in India first as it contributes over a third of its global sales, and it's a testing ground for its less mainstream products, like the OnePlus TV. We won't know if it'll make its way here, or we'll have to hold out hope for its much-rumoured smartwatch.
