Nokia's C6-01 smartphone launches on Bell

The Nokia C6-01 smartphone is now available to Canadians exclusively though Bell. Launching just in time for spring, the Nokia C6-01 is a compact finger-friendly touchscreen device that provides an all-in-one solution for busy Canadians.  This is also the first Nokia phone to feature a glare-reducing ClearBlack display which makes it easier to view content under direct sunlight.

Sleek and compact design that packs a social networking punch
Style savvy users can enjoy intuitive mobile bonding with family and friends thanks to live feeds of favourite contacts directly on the homescreen. Sync quickly and easily by updating your own status to multiple social networks in one go and easily manage your personal and business calendars so you don’t miss a beat. Also, the multiple homescreens offer a personalized and customizable mobile experience, allowing you to organize your widgets and apps just the way you like.

The Nokia C6-01 is the company’s first device to feature ClearBlack display, a technology that reduces reflections on the screen and improves visual image quality, especially when using the device outside. ClearBlack display also improves the viewing angle of the device’s display, making it easier to share pictures on-screen and using apps like Ovi Maps.

“The Nokia C6-01 is a smartphone for someone who is used to a PC experience – easy access to email accounts, live updates on Facebook and Twitter – but needs it on their mobile device,” said Richard White, General Manager, Nokia Canada. “With additional features like free Ovi Maps, apps from the Ovi Store and a built-in 8 megapixel camera, this compact device will appeal to first-time smartphone users.”

Separating work and play has never been easier on the Nokia C6-01. Users can switch quickly and easily between their personal email inbox and work email with just one click and all within the same application. The Nokia C6-01 also comes equipped with HD video capabilities and its compact design is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.

Other features include:

  • Secondary camera for video calling
  • WebTV widgets
  • Support for Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail and Ovi Mail
  • One touch access to Bell Mobile TV
  • 3.2 AMOLED display with capacitive touch
  • A range of accessories, including the BH-217 Nokia Bluetooth stereo headset and the MD-11 Nokia mini speaker

The Nokia C6-01 comes equipped with Ovi Maps, a free global navigation system with maps covering 80 countries in 46 languages. Canadians can use either the voice-guided turn-by-turn Drive or Walk navigation to easily get from A to B and with over 7,500 3D landmarks and free premium content like Lonely Planet guides and Tripadvisor, they won’t miss anything along the way.

Users can choose from thousands of apps from Nokia’s Ovi Store. Each week, Ovi Store continues to grow and add more great content that supports more than 30 languages in more than 180 countries. Currently, Ovi Store sees 4 million downloads worldwide per day. Visit store.ovi.com to learn more.

The Nokia C6-01 is available exclusively from Bell for $0 on a 3-year term with a minimum $50 voice/data plan or for $279.95 with no term contract.

Following the release of this social-networking centric device, Nokia will be running a special promotion. Starting on March 31, 2011, when customers buy a Nokia C6-01, they will be eligible for a mail-in offer to receive more than $100 in free accessories, including a mobile power pack and three silicone covers. They will also be able to enter to win a trip to a destination of their choice. See full details atwww.gowithnokia.ca starting March 31.
