Acer Iconia Tab A100 7-Inch Android Honeycomb tablet now available for $349

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Well, look who just crashed the Android Honeycomb tablet party. Acer's A100 1GB 7-inch Iconia Tab squeezes a Tegra 2 dual core processor and Google's Honeycomb OS into a small package and at a very attractive price.

This tab undercuts the the Samsung Tab 7 and the HTC Flyer in price and also in native OS. Whether it is a better device than those two tablets running  smartphone version remains to be seen. Still, very agressive move by Acer, it will be interesting to see how others react.

The Acer Iconia A100 really shakes up the pricing of the tablet market and can be considered the true entry level 7-inch tablet. Sure, we have reservations about running Honeycomb on a 7-inch screen but  this has the processing power and the specs to be able to do a decent job. Dual cameras (5 megapixel rear, 2 megapixel front) a 1280 x 800 LCD screen.

Acer managed to keep the price down on this model by offering a paltry (although user expandable via microSD) 1GB of memory. This really in an interesting device and the first true 7-inch Honeycomb dual core tablet in Canada.
