Lost and found with new TILE devices and features

The average person spends 10 to 15 minutes a day looking for stuff. Keys, wallets, and phones are ones that immediately come to mind.Over a course of lifetime that adds up to a year’s worth of time spent searching for everyday items.  It’s a universal problem that we all can relate to. When TILE, the small finding device was introduced a few years ago, I attached one to my keys and gave one to my son for his keys. It proved to come in handy when he misplaced his house keys and activated the TILE to locate them—a kilometre away at a friend’s house in a backpack.

Since then, TILE has become an essential device to my daily life and beyond. Just think about travel. According to Sita, an international IT provider to the travel industry that monitors luggage handling, there were approximately 24.8 million pieces of luggage that went astray in 2018. TILE would be useful in helping to locate these lost items. We can also talk endlessly about the aging demographic as well as the kids who are constantly misplacing items including things that are irreplaceable and much loved. 

TILE has just released a new and upgraded line that includes the TILE PRO, TILE SLIM, TILE STICKER, and TILE MATE. Most significant being increase in options, range and the ability to replace batteries. 

Here is what’s new:

TILE PRO: a sleek modern upgrade in black on black matte as well as white on metal. This high performance device now has a range of 400 ft. and a three year battery life that is replaceable. It continues to deliver on durability and is also water resistant. A favourite also for pet owners and travellers. Handy for sports bags.

TILE STICKER: a small round device that has a sticky back (3M) that can adhere discreetly to many important objects like laptops, tablets, remote controls, hand held gaming devices, bikes, strollers, healthcare assisted equipment like walkers, sports equipment, or tossed inside kids backpacks and lunchbags. The range is 150 ft, with a three year batter, and is waterproof. 

TILE SLIM: a credit card size and shape makes this one easy to slip into wallets, passport holders, luggage tags and in between phone cases. Range has increased to 200 ft., and now has a three year battery life. A separate sticker can be ordered to make this even more versatile. 

TILE MATE: is the popular and versatile everyday lightweight device that now covers 200 ft. range. It comes with one year replaceable battery life. Water resistant and great for everyday items like kids school bags and grandma’s keys.

How they work? TILE devices are activated with the app and set up is straightforward. Two easy steps in connecting the device to your phone and vice versa. Ring tones can be adjusted as well as volume so you can set different rings for different devices. One app will manage all your TILE devices and each one can be named. Can’t find your phone? You can find the phone from the touch of any of your registered TILE devices. The ease of each device is easy to use from kids to seniors.

Aside from the devices, TILE launched TILE PREMIUM last year—an optional add on (CA$34.99 yearly) that offers six additional services. Outside of the app it gives you an extended three year warranty (without is one year) and with the replaceable batteries, the product will last more than one year. Premium also offers the ability to contact customer care through text. It also offers automatic battery replacements. Within the app, there is also unlimited sharing. For example, if you share your car keys within the family now the services are available for each member. The Premium service also offers a 30 day history so you can track the whereabouts of an important item. The Smart Alerts feature has already proven to be handy on the devices that I have TILE’d that send me notifications before get out of range from that device—this particular feature is set up on a Tile by Tile basis with your “trusted places” like home, office, or gym.

A great feature with all TILE devices is the ability to connect with your area “community”. A crowd-sourcing capability that helps to search for your missing items outside of your range. Within the app you can see how many people are active TILE users within the city you’re located. According to TILE, there are 26 million Tiles worldwide and 90% of the items lost and reported to the community have been found thanks to them.

The company is also continuing to forge partnerships to grow with consumer needs. Currently they have partnerships with companies like Seinheiser, Bose and SkullCandy. TILE also continues to build out their services with voice assisted devices like Alexa, Google and Siri.
