MWC 2019: LG launches G8 ThinQ phones

Aside from its 5G phone, LG has two new variants of its new flagship, the G8 ThinQ. It doesn't stray from the design language of the G7, but has a few features up its sleeve that might be interesting. Its notch houses a new Z Camera time of flight camera tech to implement gesture-based navigation as well as Hand ID authentication. Yes, you can unlock the phone with your palm, specifically the veins on them, by having your palm hover over the camera. LG promises this is a secure way to unlock the device. But there's still Face Unlock as well as a fingerprint sensor in the back.

LG gets rid of the speaker in the notch but turns the display into a speaker itself with LG tech it calls Crystal Sound OLED, which we believe is present in some of the company's TVs.

The G8 ThinQ and G8sThinQ both come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and 6GB of RAM.

The G8 comes with a 6.1-inch 3,120 x 1,440 resolution OLED display, 3,500mAh battery, and 12-megapixel standard + 12-megapixel telephoto + 16-megapixel ultrawide triple camera system. In some markets, there will be a dual-rear camera setup for this phone.

Meanwhile, the G8s has a larger 6.2-inch display but with a lower 2,248 x 1,080 resolution; slightly bigger 3,550mAh battery; and triple camera system that's similar to the G8, except its ultra-wide camera has a 13-megapixel resolution.

There is no word in terms of pricing yet but these phones will be available in colors Carmine Red, New Aurora Black, and New Moroccan Blue.
