The Google Pixel 4a 5G is finally here

The Google Pixel 4a 5G, along with the Pixel 5, are the company's newest smartphones that go against the recent trend of experimental phones. These are traditional candy bar smartphones that aren't quite flagship phones anymore. Notably, the Pixel 4a 5G is marketed as a more affordable option than the Pixel 4. But it adds the buzzy 5G support to make it a phone fitting of 2020.

In Canada, the Pixel 4a 5G will be available in Just Black for $679.

This fifth-generation Pixel 4a 5G runs on a midrange Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, Android 11, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB non-expandable storage.

It has a slightly bigger 6.24-inch FHD+ OLED screen than the Pixel 5, and a slightly smaller 3,885mAh battery.

It also has the Pixel 5's 12.2-megapixel rear camera paired with a 16-megapixel ultrawide sensor.

What it lacks is wireless charging and water resistance. You get a lower refresh rate for the display, too.

If you buy either handset, you get a three-month subscription to Stadia Pro and YouTube Premium, 100GB storage in Google One, and Google Play Pass.

The Pixel 4a 5G was also introduced alongside the Nest Audio and Chromecast with Google TV.
