Facebook is now Meta, and its reportedly working on a smartwatch with a built-in camera

If you've checked your tech news today, you know that Facebook is changing its company name to Meta, reflecting its plans on a "Metaverse," where it is building a mixed reality platform that places all its apps in one place. Think a bit like the world in Ready Player One, at least the oversimplified version of that analogy.

As part of the world, Meta is reportedly working on a smartwatch with a built-in camera. It gives the Fitbit-like watch a notch at the bottom of the display. That camera will reportedly bring video conferencing apps to the watch.

Hardware details are basically non-existent for now. But Bloomberg says it'll have detachable wristbands and a button on the top of the case. Meta plans to launch the smartwatch "as early as 2022."
