Tile gets acquired by family location sharing service Life360

Tile

Tile faced stiff competition against Apple's AirTags. So, the company's next move is to be acquired by Life360 to get better resources to compete in its segment. The family tracking company bought Tile for US$205 million. According to Tile CEO CJ Prober, the company will still operate under the same branding.

As for Life360, it will work to expand beyond family tracking, allowing its users to "locate the people, pets, and thing they love." This acquisition will increase Tile's Finding Network reach by around 10x with the addition of Life360's 33 million users. Life360 will then gain access to 27,000 retail stores where Tile trackers are sold. It also acquires Tile's subscriber base, boosting it by 45% to 1.6 million users.

The company wanted to emphasize that the services are both "platform agnostic," so you can use them on Android and iOS. And that Tile's edge over Apple's AirTags right now, but the company does have plans to introduce Android compatibility soon.
