Tamagotchi brings the beloved digital pet to a smartwatch

Yes, the beloved digital pet gets modernized as Bandai celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Tamagotchi. The Tamagotchi Smart brings the once monochrome digital creature into a smartwatch with a coloured display.

Now, kids or the young at heart (at least in Japan) can take care of their Tamagotchi right from this smartwatch. Its touchscreen will let you pet the digital creature, it has voice recognition for chatting, a pedometer, and yes, it's still a watch, too. Oh, another cool thing is wireless connectivity lets you interact with other Tamagotchis. Battery life is said to be around 30 hours.

Initially, Bandai will sell the Tamagotchi Smart via lottery, but it will go on general sale starting November 23 for JPY 7,480 (around CAD 84). If you want extra content, Bandai will sell small physical keys you can plug into the watch for JPY 1,100 (around CAD 12).
