Canada gets first dibs on Samsung's NFC payment acceptance system

Samsung wants to help small business owners set up an advanced mobile payment system for them. And so the company launched a new NFC-enabled, contactless payment acceptance system called Samsung POS (Point of Sale), which is coming exclusively to Canada for now. It lets merchants accept credit and debit payments of up to $100 just by merely tapping cards, Samsung Pay, Apple, Pay, and Google Pay on the NFC-enabled devices. It doesn't require extra hardware, dongles, or cables to use. Samsung partnered with Mobeewave to allow micro-merchants and small businesses to grow by accepting card payments.

The system lets merchants send receipts via email, access real-time sales data, provide sales history, and create multiple accounts for staff. Samsung POS has been piloted in Canada for the past few months, with it being downloaded 10,000 times. The Samsung POS app is available through the Galaxy Store or Google Play Store. It requires a simple sign-up process to register as a merchant. Samsung plans to bring the system to other markets next year.

YouTube Music gets Siri support, dedicated desktop web app

YouTube Music gets two important features: Siri support as well as a dedicated desktop web app. With the launch of iOS 13, Apple has opened Siri integration to third-party apps. YouTube Music isn't the first music streaming service to get support, though. Spotify was the first to get the feature last month.

On top of this, YouTube Music gets a new desktop web app that won't require you to be on a browser to use the service. The functionality between the app and browser will be the same. The app hasn't fully rolled out yet, so you'll have to wait a bit if it hasn't made its way to you yet.

Google Pixel 4's software white balance 'fix' seems to be causing problems

The white balance camera software fix on the Google Pixel 4 seems to be causing more issues than it should. But it doesn't look like it's affecting all users. Reddit user nalrodriguez discovered the problem when taking a photo while his Philips Hue light blubs were set to red. When he snapped a picture with the Pixel 4, the camera tried to auto-correct the room's white balance. But instead of getting a more natural-looking image, it turned the photo from red to yellow. Android Police reported a similar issue where a deep red theatre curtain turned pale pink.

Aside from not affecting all users, the issue doesn't seem to affect past Pixel devices, as well. The same Reddit user shared that he took photos with the Pixel 3 and it didn't have the same issue. Hopefully, Google finds a fix to this software bug soon.

Samsung's 'Space Selfie' crash lands back on Earth

It was supposed to be sent out into space, but somehow it ends right back on Earth—on a farm in Michigan, to be exact. What are we talking about? We're talking about the "SpaceSelfie" PR stunt Samsung pulled, which was supposed to send a selfie of Cara Delevingne taken on a Galaxy S10 Plus off into space as the "world's first selfie sent to space." Somehow it ended right back on Earth, outside of Nancy Mumby-Welke's farmland home in Gratiot County, Michigan. She posed on Facebook, "Unbelievably look what just fell out of the sky and 911 is baffled, and it's caught up in our tree."

She told NBC News that they realized it fell from the sky, and the contraption looked like a satellite. The device had both a Samsung logo and high-altitude balloon manufacturer Raven Industries, who came to collect the apparatus. Thankfully, no one was injured. Samsung claims the landing was "planned," and it occurred in a "selected rural area."
