First look at Nokia's Lumia 1520 and the Lumia 2520

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

The future of Windows Phone rests in Nokia's Lumia line. As Finland's finest continues to refine its Windows Phone hardware and features, more models have been making waves in the market. All this, while other Windows Phone hardware partners have fallen from the wayside.

The dozen or so OEMs that graced the Microsoft stage when Windows Phone debuted, have left the party, with HTC and Samsung as the last two OEMs to release notable handsets, but that was in 2012.

Nokia adds RAW image support for Lumia 1020 and 1520

Credit: engadget.com

Nokia is bringing RAW photo support to the new Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1020 devices. Images on these phones can be saved as uncompressed Digital Negative files. Take note that utilizing the Lumia 1020’s 41MP and 1520’s 20MP sensors for RAW image saving can eat up phone storage rather quickly.

Twitter account EVleaks, known for accurately predicting Nokia devices in the past, is saying that the upcoming “Sirius” Windows RT tablet from the Finnish brand will be named Lumia 2520—keeping with the Lumia brand. This 10.1-inch tablet is said to run on a quad-core Qualcomm processor with a 1080p display and will be the first Windows RT-based tablet from the company. The Lumia 2520 is said to debut alongside a 6-inch Lumia 1520 on October 22 (it was originally set for a September launch).

Nokia reportedly unveiling Lumia 1520 on Sept. 26

Aside from showing a leaked image of the Nokia Lumia 1520, @Evleaks on Twitter claims the new 6-inch Windows Phone 8 device is going to be launched on September 26. If @Evleaks is as accurate as it usually is about device information and launch dates, this would be coming right at the heels of the new Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablet launch on September 23 in New York.
