'Star Trek: Picard' becomes Crave's most streamed series debut in history

CBS

Bell Media announced that the recently released Star Trek: Picard is the most-streamed debut on its Crave streaming service. The company counted total streams of the pilot episode in the week following its premiere on January 23. Crave gets a new episode of the show every Thursday night. Picard also airs on Thursday's on Bell's CTV Sci-Fi channel.

Star Trek: Picard marks the return of Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard. It explores the fallout following the death of Data in Star Trek: Nemesis— which is also the last time Stewart appeared on a Star Trek project—as well as the destruction of Romulus in J.J. Abrams' 2009 Star Trek movie. The show has already been renewed for a second season, giving fans more episodes to look forward to.

'Star Trek: Picard' is already renewed for Season 2 ahead of January premiere

CBS All Access

The first season of Star Trek: Picard isn't out, but CBS is willing to give the show another season already. The Hollywood Reporter noted that CBS hadn't made an official comment yet possibly because it's waiting to confirm the second season's showrunner. The first season's showrunner, novelist Michael Chabon, is reportedly looking to pass the show on to another creator as he plans to work on other projects. As the show's title suggests, Picard stars the iconic USS Enterprise captain played by Patrick Stewart, and it premieres on January 23 on CBS All Access.

In Canada, Bell Media owns exclusive rights to Picard, and it will be broadcasted on its CTV Sci-Fi channel in English and Z channel in French. The show will then be available on Bell's Crave streaming service the day after the broadcast.

Iconic character makes a comeback in the trailer for ‘Star Trek: Picard’

It looks like we’re seeing Sir Patrick Stewart playing one of his most memorable roles soon. CBS just showed the full trailer for its upcoming series, Star Trek: Pickard. Stewart will be returning as Jean-Luc Pickard, who somehow finds himself drawn out of retirement when he’s approached by a young woman who needs his help. It will take place more than 20 years after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation, which aired between 1987 and 1994, as well as after its film sequels Generations (1994), First Contact (1996), Insurrection (1998), and Nemesis (2002).

You will see some familiar faces reprising their roles. These include Commander William Riker, played by Jonathan Frakes; Deanna Troi, played by Marina Sirtis; Data, played by Brent Spiner; a former Borg drone named Hugh, played by Jonathan Del Arco; and Seven of Nine from Star Trek: Voyager, played by Jeri Ryan. The series will also feature Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, and Michelle Hurd. Star Trek: Picard is set to debut early 2020 on CBS All Access in the US. But here it will stream on Bell Media’s Space and OTT service Crave.
