Or maybe we have to call them by what it's called in Samsung's trademark application: Fashion Film. The company has filed for a trademark application in the UK for "protective and decorative films adapted for smartphones." It doesn't confirm an actual product, but it does give us an idea of what Samsung might be planning. Right now, the space is mainly occupied by companies like Dbrand. But it looks like Samsung wants a piece of that. A skin would be another way to customize phones, which it has been doing with things like its Bespoke Edition devices.

GM files new trademark, suggesting an electric Corvette is coming

General Motors' newest trademark filing suggests there might be an electric Corvette in our future. The automaker filed a trademark for a vehicle called "E-Ray" in the "motor land vehicle" category, which could be a play on the name "Stingray—a nameplate of several versions of the Corvette.

Over the last year, GM has announced 12 new electric vehicles across its brands, but a Corvette hasn't made that list yet. If this trademark application is anything to go by, we might hear something soon.

'Amazon Wallet' trademark gets filed in Canada

Amazon recently filed the trademark for the "Amazon Wallet" with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. The filing was done on October 29, but it hasn't been officially formalized yet by the Canadian government. This isn't the first time we've heard of Amazon Wallet. It was first rolled out in the US in 2014 as an all-in-one product for loyalty and gift cards. But this initiative was shuttered after six months.

The filing suggests that Amazon Wallet can be used to store both credit and debit information and as a means to make payments. This feature wasn't available yet back in 2014. We don't know yet what Amazon really wants to do with the Amazon Wallet. But we should hear something soon.

Apple’s Jony Ive files trademark for ‘LoveFrom Jony’ brand

We already know that Apple’s legendary designer Jony Ive will be leaving Apple to put up is own independent design firm. And it seems Ive is taking his first steps to bring this company to life. New documents from the US Patents and Trademark Office show Ive officially filing for a trademark for the term “LoveFrom Jony.” The filing date is July 18, 2019, while the foreign filing date listed is May 29, 2019. Ive has mentioned before that the company will be called LoveFrom, but it seems there will be an aspect of the brand that will carry the name LoveFrom Jony. This type of credit or recognition is going to be a big change in the designer’s career. While working for Apple, his name, or anyone else’s for that matter, aren’t attached to their creations. The work he’s done with Apple simply uses the term “Designed by Apple.”

The trademark filing would’ve been a good way to tell what products or services LoveFrom will be involved in. Unfortunately, the filing covers every product category out there, including cars beauty products, household appliances, drones, etc. Anything goes it seems for Ive’s new company. We also know that Apple is going to be one of LoveFrom’s clients. What we don’t know is when Ive will make the jump. They didn’t give an exact date when he was leaving the company. But with this trademark filing, it seems Ive is pushing forward with his plans soon.
