Apple iPhone 12 Pro might miss out on 120Hz screen

While the smartphone industry moves to 120Hz displays for flagships, it looks like Apple might still be lagging. Industry insider Ross Young, who has a good track record with recent predictions, claims the iPhone 12 Pro won't be getting a 120Hz screen refresh rate. While the 120Hz OLED panels are ready to manufacture, Apple reportedly can't find driver ICs to drive the pixels at 120Hz. Instead of waiting, Apple will reportedly default to the 60Hz refresh rate. If this report is accurate, then this means Apple users will be missing out on the flagship feature again.

K-pop group BTS becomes first to rack up 100 million YouTube views in 24 hours

K-pop stars seem to be the leaders in breaking YouTube viewing records. This time around, BTS garnered 101.1 million views for its new music video, "Dynamite," in 24 hours. They break Blackpink's record of 86.3 million and become the first act to cross the 100 million view mark in a short timeframe. It's a significant leap fro the group's last video, too, which got 74.6 million in the same period. The video also broke the record for most-watched YouTube premiere with over three million simultaneous viewers.

As Engadget points out, this number should represent real, organic views, as YouTube has stopped counting paid ad views for 24-hour tallies back in September 2019 to prevent labels from artificially inflating figures.

Epic's new motion claims Apple's holding Unreal Engine hostage

Epic's new filing issued on Sunday alleges Apple is holding an entire ecosystem of game developers hostage with its response of threatening to revoke Epic's developer access. The game developer has asked the court to restrain Apple from revoking said access while the lawsuit is ongoing. Apple's response to the request claims it's enforcing previously stated policies without denying that iOS support was at risk.

Epic says getting its access revoked is unnecessarily punitive as it affects developers who built on Epic's Unreal Engine, even if they weren't directly involved in the case. "The breadth of Apple's retaliation is itself an unlawful effort to maintain its monopoly and chill any action by others who might dare oppose Apple," the motion reads.
