First Look at Lenovo's MIIX 2 Windows 8 Tablet from CES 2014

2014 could very well be Lenovo's year at CES. The PC market leader has unleashed a bevy of impressive notebooks, ultrabooks, tablets and even smartphones for good measure. One of the more interesting categories this year are 8-inch Windows 8 tablets that run full Windows (not RT). Dell has first mover advantage with its Venue 8 Pro tablet and now Lenovo's followed suit with their successor to the ThinkPad Tablet 2. Designed for work and play, the MIIX 2 has a quad core Intel Atom processor, stylus input, a expandable microSD slot and starts at $299 for the 32GB model. Here's our slideshow from the show floor.

Beat for Android supports music playback from Google Drive and Dropbox

If you’ve been looking for a music player for your Android device that lets you play music from your Google Drive and Dropbox, then Beat is worth looking into. The app lets you play back music from both services and provides in-app shortcuts that let you indicate where you store your music internally or on the cloud. It also has a software equalizer if you like tinkering around with the songs you listen to.

Beat also features floating controls over other apps so you can skip songs, go back, play, or pause music without leaving the app you’re using at the moment.

Vine introduces focus and exposure locking to iOS

Vine wants to help you produce better looking six-second clips on iOS with its new update. The Twitter company introduced exposure and focus locking, which helps prevent any unexpected changes in terms of sharpness and brightness will you record. You just need to tap and hold on a subject to activate the feature. There is no word yet when the company plans to bring this to the Android and Windows Phone platform.
