Apple expected to launch redesigned AirPods at upcoming 'Unleashed' event

While Apple might focus on MacBooks during Monday's "Unleashed" event, the third-generation AirPods might appear at the October 18th event. Weibo leaker @PandaIsBald claims the redesigned AirPods will appear alongside the new "M1X" Macs. If accurate, it'll be the first significant redesign for the AirPods line since the AirPods Pro in 2019.

If you're waiting for the MacBooks more than the AirPods, those are expected to be 14-inch and 16-inch MacBookPro models with improved performance, a new design, and a mini LED display with ProMotion (allowing for a 120Hz refresh rate). We might also hear about the public release of macOS Monterey.

Samsung's Unpacked event on Oct. 20 to focus on 'self-expression'

Samsung has another Unpacked event up its sleeve, but we aren't sure what it will be about. The Unpacked Part 2 will happen on October 20 at 10 a.m. Eastern. Samsung hasn't shared what the event will cover, but it said the company will talk about "self-expression through technology." Samsung app icons (like Health and SmartThings) show up in the teaser in pastel-coloured boxes.

Previous rumours claim Samsung is ready to release a Galaxy S21 FE model, but it isn't clear if that is coming out this year. It might be that Samsung will focus on its software and services this time. The company has been pushing to expand platforms like Health. And with the company scrapping ads in its One UI apps, there might be some new changes to the operating system Samsung wants to share.

Google TV plans to bring user profiles next month to Chromecast, Sony and TCL TVs

Google TV is also getting a significant and essential upgrade. The app is getting user profiles next month. This is essential for personalized recommendations, which was tough before, given there weren't personal profiles on the platform. Profiles on Google TV will apply to all Google accounts on the device, with each profile showing its watchlist, recommendations, and Google Assistant queries. Downloaded apps and app logins will also sync across all profiles. This feature will come to Google's Chromecast and televisions from Sony and TCL.

Google to bring Android TV remote to the Home app

Google has plans to bring the Android TV remote to its Home app on Android and iOS. This feature will live alongside the Android TV remote in the Google TV app. This new feature will benefit iOS users, giving them an easier way to control devices like the Chromecast with Google TV or Android TV-based televisions from other brands. Google hasn't shared when the rollout will be, but we're keeping an eye out for it.
