This IKEA wireless charging pad is mounted underneath your desk

IKEA is giving you a cool, inexpensive option to charge on your desk wirelessly. The new Sjömärke is a US$40 (around CA$51) wireless charging pad you attach to the bottom of your desk and is held in place either with a double-sided tape (included) or 18mm x 6mm screws (not included). Your desk will need to be wood or plastic so it won't block the magnetic field, and it must have a minimum thickness of 8mm and a maximum of 22.2mm. It comes with an X-shaped sticker so you can mark it on your desk.

The Sjömärke supports Qi 1.2.4 charging and supplies five watts of power, so don't expect it to offer fast charging. According to IKEA, this charging pad comes with temperature and power monitoring, so you don't have to worry about overheating. Sjömärke will be coming to IKEA's stores and website in October 2021.

Apple to delay Find My Network support for AirPods to later this fall

Apple is ready to roll out iOS 15, but one feature that won't be available is the Find My Network support for the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. The company didn't share the reason behind the delay. It joins other iOS features that won't be available at launch, including SharePlay, Legacy Contacts, and being able to add a driver's license or state ID to the Wallet app.

With the AirPods supporting Find My Network, it would be easier to locate your missing earbuds as it uses a nearby iPhone, iPad, or Mac to relay an approximate location of your earbuds securely and privately back to you.

Apple AirPods 3 still expected to launch this 2021

Photo by Daniel Romero on Unsplash

While Apple didn't unveil the AirPods 3 during its recent California Streaming iPhone 13 launch, the company is still expected to release the new wireless buds this year. At least, that's what the rumours claim. A report from Digitimes claims that Apple has finalized its design, and the AirPods 3 are already in production. We can supposedly expect to see these buds before the year ends with a slightly higher cost than the existing models.

What could justify the higher price? Apple will reportedly include motion sensors for fitness tracking, which will also integrate with Apple Fitness Plus. The new AirPods will reportedly get noise reduction, support for spatial audio, and improved battery life. And these might also get shorter stems than the previous generation AirPods. For now, Apple, as expected, isn't corroborating the rumours, but we'll keep you posted for updates.
