YouTube inks streaming deal with FIFA for 2026 World Cup

Source: FIFA, YouTube

After signing a "Preferred Platform" partnership with TikTok, FIFA turned to YouTube for a similar streaming rights deal for the 2026 World Cup. The deal allows FIFA's media partners to stream "a select number of matches in full" on their YouTube channels as well as livestream the first 10 minutes of each match. The latter is presumed to serve as a hook to get viewers to turn on their TVs to finish watching the match.

Media partners will also get access to "every angle" of the match footage to create custom content. The World Cup will take place in 16 cities across Canada, Mexico and the US, running from June 11 to July 19.

Samsung is seemingly winding down the sale of its Galaxy Z TriFold roughly three months after it became available on the market, Bloomberg News reported. A company spokesperson told the publication it will halt sales for the US$2,899 (~CA$3,977) device in South Korea before ending its sales in the US, at least until the remaining stocks are cleared.

Bloomberg noted that the move is anticipated, given that the company stopped teasing future restocks on its website. According to posts on social media and Reddit, some units are still available in Samsung Experience Stores in Frisco, Texas and Queens, New York.

Out of the box, the Neo provides the complete premium Apple unboxing experience. No expense was spared in the presentation and the unboxing experience. A tiny ‘hello’ tab greets new users before they unwrap the laptop, and in certain markets you get a 20W USB-C charger and a braided cable.

WhatsApp comes to select Garmin smartwatches

Source: Garmin

Sleeping Pokémon aren't just the latest additions to Garmin smartwatches. The latest app supported on select wearables is Meta's WhatsApp. You can now quickly reply to chats by typing on a tiny keyboard, which supports emojis, on your smartwatch's screen or by using canned messages. However, there is no voice note support or the option to transcribe spoken audio to text.

According to Forbes, the app can show you your 10 most recent chats or group chats. It is also only supported on more recent Garmin devices. If your watch is supported, the app is available for download on the Garmin Connect IQ app store.
