'Dune: Part Two' pushed back to March 15 amid Hollywood labor actions

Warner Bros.

Dune: Part Two has been postponed to March 15, 2024, because of the ongoing writer and actor strikes. The film, which was slated for November 3, needs the publicity from its star-studded cast to reach its full box office potential. Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment decided to delay it for over four months after holding out as long as they could.

The studio and production company hoped the extra time would enable the cast, featuring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, and Christopher Walken, to join a full marketing campaign. They would have had to start advertising the film by early September.

Google Keep for Android finally gets text formatting options

Google

If you use Google Keep on your Android device, you’ll be glad to hear that it finally has text formatting options. You can now bold, italicize, and change the appearance of your text in your notes. Google said this week that the feature is rolling out, and you should see it soon in the app (if it hasn't yet). The text formatting options are not new or flashy, but are essential and long overdue.

Keep is a great note-taking app. It's fast, simple, and smart. It works on Android, iOS, and the web. It can turn a link into a rich preview, a short note into a Post-it, and a long note into a document. You can also draw, record audio, and set reminders in your notes. And since it's a Google product, you can search and access your notes from other Google apps. As The Verge pointed out, its future felt tenuous, but seeing it get a necessary update gives us hope it'll be around for a while.

This SNES-like dock lets you connect your Steam Deck to your TV

GuliKit

There's now a more stylish docking station for the Steam Deck. GuliKit introduced a new Super Nintendo-inspired dock (the US version, not the European one). It features a grey case and two large purple buttons that might be purely decorative. The docking slot has a sliding cover to protect it from dust and two vents for cooling. The back of the dock has USB-C and AC power ports, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, and three USB 3.0 ports. Its dock can deliver up to 100W of power and support 4K 60Hz HDMI video output. And it also has a hidden compartment for four microSD cards.

The dock also works with handheld gaming devices like the ROG Ally and Ayaneo's systems. You can even use it with your Nintendo Switch for plaing on your TV. However, you'll have to flip your Switch upside down to plug it in. On the bright side, you can enjoy SNES games on an SNES-themed dock. GuliKit hasn’t announced the price yet, but the dock should be available in September.

Chrome on iOS tests bottom address bar feature

The Verge

Google Chrome on iOS is testing a new feature that allows you to place the address bar at the bottom of the screen. This is a convenient option that brings the address bar within your thumb’s reach. (It’s worth noting that Apple introduced a similar feature for Safari with iOS 15 two years ago.) This new Chrome feature was spotted using the TestFlight version of the app.
