CES 2026: L’Oréal introduces infrared multi-styler to combat heat damage

L’Oréal officially introduced the Light Straight + Multi-styler, a next-generation hair tool designed to end the trade-off between high-performance styling and hair health. Unveiled at CES 2026, the device utilizes patented infrared light technology to style hair at significantly lower temperatures than traditional irons, addressing a major consumer concern: a 2024 US consumer study by the company revealed that 58% of women attribute their hair damage to heat exposure.

Unlike standard straighteners that often exceed 400°F or 204.44°C—a heat level that can damage hair keratin—the Light Straight + Multi-styler features glass plates that never exceed 320°F or 160°C. By using near-infrared light to penetrate deeply into the hair fibre and reshape internal hydrogen bonds, the tool protects the hair’s cuticle while delivering results. According to L’Oréal’s instrumental tests, the device styles three times faster and leaves hair two times smoother than leading premium competitors.

L’Oréal, known for unveiling innovative beauty products at CES, is introducing a new hairdryer called the AirLight Pro. It uses infrared light and airflow to dry hair faster and more gently than conventional heat.

The AirLight Pro is inspired by how the sun and wind dry rain, says Guive Balooch, L’Oréal’s Technology Incubator vice president. The infrared light evaporates water on the hair surface while preserving moisture inside the strand. The light also has a hydrating effect on hair, unlike UV light.
