Windows 8.1 Preview goes live

Microsoft Corporation just announced the availability of the Windows 8.1 Preview at its developer-focused Build conference in San Francisco. 

At the demo, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer; Julie Larson-Green, corporate vice president of Windows; and other executives showed off the new OS. The focus was on personalization; increased functionality for businesses; new apps coming to Windows (Facebook, Flipboard, and NFL); search powered by Bing; and more.

Twitter updates app for BlackBerry users

It took a bit of a wait but BlackBerry users with smartphones running OS 5 and up are now getting an updated version of Twitter with features that are available on other operating systems but have been missing on the BlackBerry platform.

Some of these features include photo cards when you expand tweets; retweet and favorite color markers; additional timeline details (such as who replied, their location, and article summary for links); and similar profile suggestions.

Video: Samsung Galaxy Tab 7, 8 and 10.1 versions demoed at Future Shop showcase

Samsung is set to compete in the tablet market at nearly every conceivable size. The Galaxy Tab 3 line starts with the 7-inch model, a slimmed down 8-inch model and the 10.1 inch model. We have thinner bezels this year, improved storage capacity (accepting up to 64GB microSD) as well as a range of prices starting at $199 for the 7-inch version. One curious thing is Samsung's opting to use an Intel Clovertrail processor on the 10.1-inch tab and not one of their own Exynos processors.
