Android Lollipop release for Samsung Galaxy devices pushed to ‘early 2015’

If you’re using a Samsung Galaxy device and you’ve been waiting to get your hands on Android’s latest operating system, then you’re in for a bit more wait. Vincent Se Young Lee, a Reuters reporter based in Seoul, said Samsung has confirmed they plan to release Android Lollipop for their latest devices like Galaxy S5 LTE-A, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, and Galaxy Note 4 before early 2015. It is a rather vague timeline so you shouldn’t expect it to land on your new Galaxy smartphone/phablet any time soon.

Consumer Reports debunks 'Bendgate' through a series of tests

While many might doubt Apple's own claims after showing their testing facilities to several journalists, independent and trusted publication Consumer Reports got on the case of the 'Bendgate' claims and tested both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well as a host of other similarly-sized smartphones by applying more than 70 pounds of force to the device's centre.

Their findings? The iPhone 6's aren't as delicate and bendy as some would like you to believe and the iPhone 6 Plus is actually more resilient than the Phone 6.

Other findings, the HTC One M8 was the weakest device found in structural tests being the first to succumb to the torture tests. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was the toughest device in this particular test while the iPhone 5s and the LG G3 were tied at second place. So, the new iPhone 6's aren't the weakest phones out there according to Consumer Reports, "It takes a lot of force to bend these new iPhones and any other phones for that matter," end of story.

Check out their video here.

Review: Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Text and photos by Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Samsung has had a heck of a run with its Galaxy Note line of devices. What started out as the 'phablet' smartphone sideshow in 2011 with the original Galaxy Note and Note II, has given birth to one of the most competitive areas in mobile today. Large smartphones are now a bona-fide category. Samsung's Note line is a premium sub-brand that is a hot seller and has expanded the S Pen-capable tablet line to 8 and 10-inch variants.

In many ways, the Galaxy Note is Samsung's true flagship product and great differentiator. The Galaxy S smartphone line will continue to be popular but the recent updates have been incremental and iterative at most. The Galaxy Note 3 looks and feels like a more inspired device in form and function.
