Twitter to kill off legacy verified checkmarks on April 1

Image: Twitter

We don't know if this is Twitter CEO Elon Musk's idea of a joke, but this was part of the social media account's plan anyway. Twitter announced it would "begin winding down [its] legacy verified program and removing legacy verified checkmarks" starting April 1.

This announcement comes as Twitter makes its Blue subscription available worldwide. So, if you want to keep your checkmark/verification, you must pay for the subscription. It costs CAD 8.75 per month on an annual plan or CAD 10 per month. Meanwhile, organizations need to pay around USD 1,000 (around CAD 1,370). Other benefits include 4,000-character tweets, edit post options, and higher reply rankings. Now, we have to wait and see if people will be willing to pay monthly for these perks.

'Lego 2K Drive' is an open-world racing game coming in May

If you love Lego bricks and racing games, you're in luck. Visual Concepts, the studio behind annual licensed WWE and NBA sports games, will launch Lego 2K Drive globally on May 19. It's an open-world racing game similar to the Forza Horizon series. But it also has elements of kart racing, making it seem like a crossover between Forza Horizon and Mario Kart. The game is set in Bricklandia with multiple themed regions, mini-games, collectibles, and, of course, races.

Apple Music bug is reportedly causing some playlist issues

Photo: Auguras Pipiras / Unsplash

There have been reports online that some Apple Music users are having trouble with their playlists. Some accounts have songs and playlists suddenly appear in their libraries, while others have their playlists disappear or be replaced. The issue seems to be limited to the iOS Apple Music app, which is most likely caused by an iCloud issue that's syncing up the wrong data between users.

Some wrote that disabling iCloud syncing and then re-enabling has cleared up the issue. You can access that through Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Show All. Apple has had similar iCloud syncing issues in the past. But the company hasn't commented on this issue yet.

Nothing Ear (2) gets launched, costs CAD 199

Photo: Nothing

Nothing's second-generation Ear (2) wireless earbuds have officially launched. And they don't stray too far design-wise from their predecessor. The improvements are more on the internals, including connectivity and setup. The case is smaller and slimmer, and Nothing claims it's harder to scratch and damage than the Ear (1). The earbuds are IP54 rated, while the charging case is IP55 (which we don't get often). It only comes in white for now, though.

The company rearranged the microphones and antennae inside the buds to improve connectivity and stability, which was an issue some users reported in the original earbuds. The new mic position allows these buds to reduce wind noise on calls. Nothing says it improved sound detail with polyurethane components for clearer low frequencies and graphene for brighter highs. These buds also feature a dual chamber design for a wider soundstage.
