OPPO Find X6 Pro launches with massive 1-inch camera sensor

Photo: OPPO

OPPO Find X6 Pro is the latest flagship phone from a Chinese company to sport a large 1-inch type camera sensor. The camera module takes up a big chunk of this phone's back, so you know the star of the show is its setup. It's armed with Sony's 50-megapixel 1-inch-type IMX989 sensor paired with 50-megapixel 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX890 sensors for the ultrawide and periscope cameras. OPPO boasts that these sensors are "larger than any wide-angle camera to date and "the largest sensor of any smartphone telephoto camera on the market," respectively.

The ultrawide camera has a 110-degree field of view and an f/2.2 aperture that allows it to handle macro photography with a minimum 4cm focus distance. As for the periscope telephoto camera, it offers a 3x optical zoom and a 6x hybrid zoom. OPPO gets the most out of these sensors with some software features it co-developed with Hasselblad. The Find X6 Pro gets features like a portrait mode that's designed to emulate the "colors and depth of field" of the Swedish camera maker's XCD30 and XCD80 lenses.

Duolingo is reportedly working on a music learning app

Image: ilgmyzin/Unsplash

Duolingo might be expanding into music soon. A job posting by the company shows it has a small team working on building an app for teaching music. The job ad is looking for an "expert in music education who combines both theoretical knowledge of relevant learning science research and hands-on teaching experience."

Whoever gets the job will ensure the app is "well-grounded in learning science." They need to translate "research findings into concrete ideas" that can be used for "learning by doing" activities the company is known for. The one who takes the position will also need to take the lead on curriculum development, suggesting the app is in its early stages.

Samsung S90C is the brand's more affordable OLED TV

Photo: Samsung

Samsung now has more than one OLED TV. The tech giant expands its Quantum Dot OLED to introduce the more affordable S90C. This gets a scaled-back version of Samsung's object-tracking sound, and it won't get the S95C's near-flush wall mounting or external connection box. It still offers the punchy QD-OLED image, AI-based HDR mapping, Dolby Atmos audio, and syncing with Samsung soundbars. The Samsung S90C starts at USD 1,899 (around CAD 2,595) for a 55-inch model and goes up to USD 3,599 (~CAD 4,918) for the 77-inch variant. Samsung plans to release a 65-inch set soon.

Samsung also adds a 55-inch and 65-inch model for the more premium S95C. That's available at USD 2,499 (~CAD 3,415) and 3,299 (~CAD 4,508), respectively. It gets a slightly brighter 2,000-nit output and a 144Hz refresh rate for compatible PC games.
