Jabra launches new TWS earbuds that can help those coping with hearing loss

Source: Jabra

Jabra recently announced its Enhance Plus earbuds. This pair of true wireless buds don't just help you listen to music or take calls but help those with "mild-to-moderate" hearing loss. If you aren't ready for a hearing aid yet, this could be an option to consider.

Jabra plans to launch this pair first in the US by the end of the year. Jabra will sell them through licensed hearing care professionals, but the company hasn't announced pricing yet. These earbuds might be Jabra's first entry into the business, but its parent company, GN Group, has worked in the industry for a while.

Pinterest makes it easier for BIPOC users to find hair inspo

Pinterest recently introduced a new search feature that makes it easier for Black, Brown, Indigenous, Latinx, and other POC users to discover hair inspiration on the visual discovery site that suits their hair types. The company developed the hair pattern search with BIPOC users in mind. The technology Pinterest developed detected hair patterns in over 500 million images. Pinterest's Head of Inclusive Product, Annie Ta, worked with BIPOC creators and Pinners like Editorial Hair Stylist and Global Artistic Director of Amika, Naeemah LaFond, to help build and design the product.

When you search for broader terms like "short hair" or "summer hairstyles," the new hair pattern buttons will help you narrow down results. It uses computer vision-powered object detection to let you refine your search with six different hair patterns: protective, coily, curly, wavy, straight, and shaved/bald. Canada is among the countries to get this feature first on the web and mobile. We join the UK, US, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. The company plans to roll this out in more locations over the coming months.

Mastercard to phase out magnetic strips

Source: Mastercard

Mastercard is ready to let go of the magnetic strip on its cards. The company plans to transition to chip cards starting in 2024, particularly in regions where it's already a norm (like in Europe). Those regions where chips aren't widely used yet will begin their transition in 2027.

By 2029, no new credit or debit cards will be released with a magnetic strip. The exceptions will be prepaid cards in the US and Canada. Mastercard plans to transition away from magnetic strips by 2033.
