Pixel 4 gets first dibs on Live Caption, will come to Pixel 3 and 3a in December

When the Pixel 4 series launches this month, the phones will be the first to get Google's Live Caption feature. It's designed to run subtitles through videos you watch on your phone, making sure you don't miss anything even if you're watching the clip in noisy environments. According to MobileSyrupCanadian users will be getting the feature on their Pixel 4 phones, too. Soon after the Pixel 3 and 3a will be getting the feature (sometime in December, to be exact).

Nest Hub Max is now up for pre-order in Canada, retails for $299

If you've been waiting for the Nest Hub Max to make its way here, Google just announced that it'd be coming to Canada for $299. It is now available for pre-order, and it will arrive at the end of the month. It's available in Charcoal and Chalk colour options.

The smart display is a larger version of the Nest Hub, which means it lets you watch YouTube videos on it, ask questions, and control your smart home devices. It has a 10-inch 1,920 x 1,080 resolution screen that auto-adjusts to the lighting around it. It has a front-facing camera for video chat, facial recognition, and even as a security camera. Much like Motion Sense on the Pixel 4 series, you can use gestures to start and pause videos and alarms.

Google Pixel 4 launch confirms most of the leaks, pre-orders up now

There wasn't much that was kept under wraps with the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. And the leaks, for the most part, told us everything we were expecting to show up, even the Canadian prices were leaked. But it's good to know that what was leaked is off of what Google is offering.

Here's a quick rundown of the Canadian prices:

  • Pixel 4 - 64GB: $999
  • Pixel 4 - 128GB: $1,129
  • Pixel 4 XL - 64GB: $1,129
  • Pixel 4 XL - 128GB: $1,259

The phones are available for pre-order now, and these will be released on October 24th. And for those who pre-order, you get $150 Google Store credits.

Android 10 with Samsung's One UI 2.0 beta isn't coming to Canada

Samsung has started rolling out the Android 10-based One UI 2.0 beta for the Galaxy S10 phones. But this version of the app will not make its way to Canada. Samsung Canada confirmed with MobileSyrup that it will not make its way to the country—for now. The company might change its mind, or we'll just have to wait for the final version of the operating system to come to Galaxy S10 devices in the country sometime between now until the start of 2020. The first version of One UI came to Canadian beta testers back in November 2018, with it officially hitting devices in February 2019.

One UI 2.0 brings with it Dark Mode that can shade your home screen wallpaper, smaller UI for the volume bars and caller notifications while you watch videos or play games, and Focus Mode to let you know how long you use specific apps.
