Marvel reissues ‘Avengers: Endgame’ poster after Danai Gurira’s credit omission

A few days ago, Avengers: Endgame got a new trailer and movie poster, which made fans more excited about the upcoming film. The poster featured all the surviving Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes, but fans noticed that Black Panther’s Danai Gurira, who plays Dora Milaje’s general Okoye, was missing from the credits at the top of the poster. Instead, her name was included in the bottom credit block, alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Benedict Wong. Fans took offense to the omission because she is the only star in the poster that didn’t get above-the-title billing. It got exacerbated by the fact that she’s the only actress of color to appear on the poster.

As Polygon points out, credit billing in posters is a “complex process” that involves a lot of negotiation by agents and the like over things like who earns a “with,” an “and,” or even how big or small names appear on the poster. But fans weren’t having this treatment, especially with MCU having had a predominantly white male presence in the past (which is something they are trying to fix moving forward). Marvel responded and reissued the poster with Gurira’s name now appears before Bradley Cooper and Josh Brolin. It was announced with a tweet that says, “She should have been up there all this time.”

Avengers: Endgame is set to hit cinemas on April 26th.

After being fired over offensive tweets dug up by far-right provocateur Mike Cernovich, James Gunn finds himself at the helm once again of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 as Disney rehires the director. His firing was met with a lot of criticism by reporters, Hollywood insiders, and even the cast of the first two Guardians films to reconsider the firing. Now, Disney has decided to bring him back. According to the company, the decision to rehire Gunn was “mulled and actually made months ago, following conversations with Disney studio leadership and the team at Marvel Studio.” Gunn, who hasn’t tweeted since being fired, sent out a thank you message to fans for their continued support.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was originally slated for a 2020 release, but it’s since been pushed back. There is no news at the moment when it’ll come out. The director is also set to helm Suicide Squad 2 for Warner Bros., which is coming out next year. He’s one of the few directors now who can say he’s gotten to work on both Marvel and DC projects for two different studios.

Microsoft tests Windows Defender extensions for Chrome and Firefox

Microsoft started testing with Insider users its new Windows Defender Application Guard for both Chrome and Firefox users. The extension is designed to protect enterprise PCs against attacks. It used to be an Edge-exclusive feature, but it is now making its way to the two other browsers. What it does is it opens untrusted URLs not listed in administrators’ trusted sites in a virtual container. It helps prevent any attackers from immediately gaining access into a company’s system if the site does turn out to be a malicious one.

For the extension to do its job, you’ll need the companion app from the Microsoft Store and the Edge browser. If the extension finds the URL isn’t from the trusted list, it’ll open it in an isolated Edge session. Any link you click in the isolated session that’s from a trusted site will launch right back in your original browser. The extension is currently only available to Insider users, but it should be coming to more users soon.
