Leaked promo video teases the Nokia 9 PureView

What can a penta-camera smartphone do? We’re not sure yet but it’s coming. HMD Global’s newest Nokia smartphone gets teased in a leaked a promo video that showcases its big features. One of the most talked about ones in the Nokia 9 PureView is the five-camera setup. What each sensor can do isn’t known yet but the video shows that it can take portrait mode shots with adjustable bokeh and you can change focus after taking the shot. It also has a night mode that promises the phone can capture 10x more light than other smartphones. The Nokia 9 PureView can also take photos using all the cameras at once.

Aside from this, the smartphone is said to feature a notch-less 5.99-inch 2K (QHD) PureDisplay with HDR10 support, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB internal storage. The Nokia 9 PureView also packs in an in-display fingerprint scanner. It’ll reportedly support wireless charging and will run on Android One based on Android 9. The phone is expected to launch at the end of January.

Samsung releases another Galaxy Note9 Android Pie beta update

Samsung Galaxy Note9 gets its fourth Android Pie beta update. It’s rolling out to users in India, Germany, and South Korea. And it fixes some touch-related issues, including the home button hard press feature not working when the navigation gestures are enabled as well as the keyboard app not responding on the bottom right of the display. Since touch issues are considered critical bugs, this is considered the first hotfix beta for the Galaxy Note9. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ needed a couple of hotfix updates, but hopefully this won’t be the same case for the Note9.

To download the update, go into the Settings > Software update menu on your phone. From there, tap the Download and install option.

Platinum Games plans to have ‘several announcements’ in 2019

Platinum Games already have plans for Bayonetta 3 in 2019. But it looks like that isn’t the only thing the studio has planned. Platinum’s Atsushi Inaba told 4Gamer that there are several things the company is prepping in 2019. Inaba said, “Next year will be intense as usual. It seems it will be a year where Platinum Games aims to move up to new levels, so I’ll do my best… but if I end up saying something like that safely, my statement would not be interesting, right? So, next year we will make several announcements!”

As for what this means, we don’t know yet. Comicbook.com theorizes we might hear more about Scalebound, Viewtiful Joe, NieR, and Okami sequels, Vanquish, or even The Wonderful 101 and Star Fox Zero. Now, we’re going to have to wait and see if any of these games show up.

Trick your tyke with Netflix’s New Year’s Eve 2019 Countdown Specials

Whether it actually works or not, Netflix is bringing back its New Year’s Eve Countdown Specials for parents who want to get their children to sleep early. The streaming service launched its 1-2-minute long on-demand countdowns on December 26. It’s based on Netflix’s original kids and family shows, which makes the countdowns fun for the kids who love these shows, but also helps Netflix promote its roster of content. This year, it includes characters from four DreamWorks Animation series—The Boss Baby: Back in Business, All Hail King Julien, Tales of Arcadia, and Spirit Riding Free—as well as Fuller House, Beat Bugs, Pinky Malinky, Super Monsters, Motown Magic, True and the Rainbow Kingdom, Larva Island, Skylanders Academy, Prince of Peoria, and Alexa & Katie.

Netflix claims these have been popular with parents. Since its first countdown with King Julien back in 2014, an average of five million members annually choose to watch these countdowns. If your kids are staying up tonight, though, some probably want to do that because Taylor Swift’s Reputation stadium tour film is airing on the service on December 31st.
