YouTube maxes out HDR viewing on mobile app to 1080p

While it was limited to a handful of devices, Google added the ability to play HDR content to its Android app a couple of months back. And even if these devices were more on the powerful side of the spectrum, some have noticed performance issues once videos pushed to 1440p or above—the clips stuttered with dropped frames. To remedy the situation, YouTube has opted to take out these options. Now, HDR maxes out at 1080p so you can enjoy the content without the problems.

Netflix won’t work with Kevin Spacey moving forward after sexual harassment allegations against the actor surfaced

Photo by David Giesbrecht / Netflix

Netflix took a step forward on top of just cancelling House of Cards, the streaming service announced it wasn’t going to be involved in any further production of House of Cards that involved Kevin Spacey. The service said they are working with Media Rights Capital while the show is on hiatus “to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show.” Netflix is also not going to move forward with the film Gore, which stars and is produced by Spacey, despite it being in post-production already. MRC says they’ve also suspended the actor from production, effective immediately.

Following Anthony Rapp’s revelation of Spacey’s reported sexual abuse against him, more people came forward detailing sexual harassment allegations against the actor with multiple accounts happening during the production of House of Cards. Before the news broke, production for the sixth season of the show was well underway. And when it came out, it’s been announced the season was going to be the show’s final season but at the moment both Netflix and MRC have put production on hold. The show’s producers are said to be considering how they’re going to move forward from here. Speculation says they might kill of Spacey’s character or concentrate on creating spin-off shows. This is far from the actor’s problems though as he has also been dropped by his publicist and talent agency CAA.

Apple's iPhone X guided tour video gets users up and running

iPhone X is out and this new flagship smartphone brings an all-screen display and Face ID at the expense of the Home button. This means there are a lot of new gestures and actions to get things done. Personally, the changes are quite intuitive but I still find myself searching for the Home button. Apple's posted the guided tour video above to help new iPhone X users get up and running.
