Review: Apple iPhone X

While the original iPhone had no viable competitor (the LG Prada was close, but no cigar), it managed to rewrite the rules of what modern smartphones should be.

2007's iPhone brought multi-touch, it brought real web browsing, actual web-experiences and apps.  These are features we can all take for granted today and which are abundantly available, even on the cheapest smartphone. Hit jump for our review of Apple's all glass flagship.

‘Wonder Woman’ is now the top-grossing superhero origin movie

Since the movie came out in June, Wonder Woman has been smashing records left and right. This time, it becomes the highest grossing superhero origin movie ever made. Director Patty Jenkins’ smash hit just earned US$821,750,942 worldwide. It overthrows 2002 Spider-Man film, which earned $821,708,551. According to BoxOfficeMojo, the three other best-selling origin films are Deadpool at $783,112,979, Guardians of the Galaxy at $773,328,629, and Suicide Squad at $745,600,054. These, however, have not been adjusted for inflation, as Business Insider points out, which means Spider-Man earned over a billion if that’s factored in.

But it still doesn’t detract from the success and popularity of Wonder Woman. It’s still the highest-grossing DC Extended Universe movie, highest-grossing live action film by a female director, one of the top five highest-grossing superhero movies of all time, and most tweeted movie of 2017. We’ll be seeing Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman next in the upcoming Justice League film.

Instagram tests out stop-motion camera in Stories

After taking tons of cues (or basically copying Snapchat, we should say), Instagram is turning to its more creative tools to keep its users engaged within its Stories feature. Joining the recently launched Superzoom tool, Instagram is trying out what it calls Stop Motion. This lets the Instagram Story camera take a long series of photos that the app stitches into a GIF you can post on the service. It won’t let you edit individual images but once its done recording, you can add things like text and stickers as you would your other stories. At the moment though, this isn’t available to all users and we can’t say if Instagram will roll this outside of testing. If you do have access to it, let us know what you think.

Facebook might soon try out ‘red envelope’ payments feature and ‘breaking news’ tag for stories

Facebook is always trying out new products and features that may or may not be used by the general public later on. This time, the company seems to be gearing up to test a “red envelope” feature to make it easier for users to send cash gifts to others on the social network and a “breaking news” tag that publishers can attach to breaking events they want to draw attention to. The Next Web’s Matt Navara spotted these features that the company doesn’t seem to be officially testing just yet.
