Google officially shuts down Talk

If you’re still one of the last people using Google Talk, you’re now going to have to say goodbye to the chat service. Google is closing down the service today. And they want you to use Hangouts instead. This news doesn’t really come as a surprise as the company has long been telling users to switch to other messaging apps for quite a while. The good news is there are tons of other good messaging apps out there. Or you can stick with Hangouts. That’s up to you.

Procreate releases update for the new iPads & teases a major update for the fall

Illustrators who use the iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil have probably heard of Procreate. And if you’re one of these users, the app has just been updated to fix a bug that has been plaguing the new iPad Pros. According to Procreate, this update “fixes a cancelling issue with the canvas zoom and pan gesture” on both the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros.

Aside from that, the company plans to release a major update for the app in the fall. Teasing the update on Instagram, it says that version 4 will be “the biggest update ever.” It’ll supposedly run “4x faster” and be “designed for the future.” The platform will also be “powered by METAL.” The new features will be teased on the company’s website starting this week. Procreate is available on the App Store for $8.49.

Review: Google Home

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Google Home is Google’s smart speaker which connects via WiFi (or, even better, via Google WiFi) to Google’s smart assistant in the cloud. Designed to be connected at home, Google home uses voice as the primary means of control. It is available in Canada from Best Buy and online from Google.

For $ 179.00, Canadians can get their hands on Google Home, a voice-activated smart speaker, powered by the Google Assistant in English and French.

This diminutive speaker has a rather charming zen-like design. Some say it looks like an aromatherapy gadget, which is fine since it is created to sort of blend in to your home. I Installed Google Home in my kitchen/breakfast nook area and it is ideal for query and control situations when I have my hands full from preparing food or washing dishes.
