Dropcam co-founder and Nest executive Greg Duffy joins Apple

Apple has confirmed the news that Greg Duffy the co-founder and former CEO of security company Dropcam will be joining its team. He co-founded Dropcam back in 2009 and led the company until it was purchased by Google’s Nest in mid-2014. Duffy spent a few months working for Nest but left in January 2015. Rumour has it there was a culture clash between him and Nest founder Tony Fadell. Apple won’t say what Duffy’s role in the company will be but the tech company is known to have special projects constantly in the works.

Google opens app development for Daydream VR to all developers

In order to make a new technology or segment attractive to consumers, there needs to be a lot of good things going for it. In the case of virtual reality and VR headsets, there needs to be a lot of content or experiences to be had with these devices. To get more content, it’s necessary to get more partners. And so, Google is finally opening its doors to developers to create apps for its own VR platform. A new page on the company’s developer site shows the steps developers need to take to let them share Daydream-ready apps on the Play Store.

One of the key steps for developers to have their app published on Daydream Home and Google Play VR is to opt into the Daydream program. Once they do and once all the steps have been met, the Daydream team will then review the app created to see if it meets all the criteria.

Bryan Cranston’s ‘Sneaky Pete’ finally gets entire season streamed on Amazon Prime Video starting January 27

Following the news that the Amazon Original Series Sneaky Pete is getting a second season and roughly a year and a half since the pilot episode aired on Amazon Prime Video, the show’s first season will finally start streaming tomorrow. Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston is an executive producer on the show alongside Graham Yost. The 10-episode show stars Giovanni Ribisi as con man Marius, who tries to live a new life outside of prison by impersonating his cellmate Pete. He tries to pass off as Pete to the man’s estranged family as Marius tries to run away from the vicious gangster he once robbed. How long he’ll be able to pull off the con? Well, you have to watch the series yourself.

2017 Super Bowl teaser ads roll out

The excitement is building for the upcoming Super Bowl game (February 5, 2017) between the Patriots and the Falcons. Of course many are also looking forward to the ad campaigns that are equally as entertaining. Advertisers are paying upwards of $5 million (US) for a 30 second spot that will air during the game on television and online.... and that doesn't include production costs. Is it worth it? Apparently so!

CNN  reported a whopping 111.9 million viewers watched last year game on TV. That said, it didn't count for any online streaming or those who watched at bars and parties. Regardless, we love the ads.
