Canadian-made PandaHAUS app is your window to the snowsports world

Canadian Olympic medallist for Skiing Jan Hudec – nicknamed Panda – worked with software company Core Platform Canada to develop the "more than just skiing" app, which is a powerful photo and content sharing community for skiers, riders and fans.

Hudec says the app – which you can download for free from pandahaus.com – will help bring the entire snowsports community together, while also raising money for young athletes chasing their dreams. It features a host of stars from the ski and snowboard sports world, including the USA's Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin.

"The pandaHAUS app is a revolutionary way for the snowsports world, from the youngest fan to the oldest die-hard, to share, communicate, collaborate and educate," said Hudec, whose ski racing season was cut short by knee surgery. "I've always been passionate about supporting young athletes and using mentors and role models to help inspire the next generation. Lack of funding has been a longstanding issue and this app will provide a solution by harnessing the passion of the ski and snowboard communities in a meaningful way."

Expert says Takata is ‘facing a crisis that may prove difficult to overcome’

One of the most persistent automotive news stories has been the massive number of recalls from dozens of car manufacturers due to defective Takata-made airbags. More specifically, the issue involves defective inflator and propellent devices that may deploy improperly in the event of a crash, shooting metal fragments into vehicle occupants. Nintendo Super NES classics to come to the 3DS

Feeling a bit nostalgic for some Super Mario World, F-Zero or Pilotwings? Nintendo has announced that they plan to bring some Super Nintendo games to the new 3DS and 3DS XL. Those in the US are getting the three aforementioned games already with six other coming in the next few weeks. Those other games include Super Mario Kart, EarthBound, and Donkey Kong Country, which are expected to arrive starting March 24^th. After that there will be The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, and Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong’s Quest.

These games will come out in either special 3DS-specific enhancements or with the “Perfect Pixel” setting if you want get nostalgic and play these in their native resolution. However, your console SNES purchases won’t make its way to your mobile gaming consoles. And no word yet if we’re getting the games yet here in Canada. Will let you know for any updates.

No Mac support coming until Apple has a ‘good’ system with better graphics, according to Oculus founder

The Oculus Rift won’t be Mac-friendly any time soon. According to Oculus founder Palmer Luckey, they are waiting for Apple to release a “good” Mac with a faster video card before they even plan to bring the virtual reality headset to OS X. "It just boils down to the fact that Apple doesn't prioritize high-end GPUs," he explained. "You can buy a $6,000 Mac Pro with the top of the line AMD FirePro D700, and it still doesn't match our recommended specs. So if they prioritize higher-end GPUs like they used to for a while back in the day, we'd love to support Mac. But right now, there's just not a single machine out there that supports it."

The Rift will be coming out on March 28 and its current version is already putting strain on the performance of mid- to high-level Windows PCs. It needs at least an Intel Core i5-4590 processor and either an NVIDIA GTX 970 or AMD R9 290 graphics card. The bundles with the headset have a starting price of $1,499 USD (about $2,000 CAD).
