Review: Roku Streaming Stick

Text and photos by Simon Cohen

Tons of features, good performance and an unbeatable price make the Roku Streaming Stick by far the best value in the increasingly busy Smart-TV add-on category.

If you already own a Smart TV—a WiFi-connected, app-enabled HDTV—you really don’t need to read this. That’s because the Roku family of devices (to which the Roku Streaming Stick is the latest addition) is for all of us poor shmoes stuck with TVs that have no way of talking to the internet and thus no way to access content providers like Netflix, Crackle, CrunchyRoll or YouTube unless we stretch a very long and trip-hazard-creating HDMI cable from our PC/laptop to our TV sets. ‘Forza 5’ to get two new DLC packs

Turn 10 Studios have plans to extend the shelf life of Forza 5 a bit more with two new downloadable content packs coming out in a couple of months. The June pack is set to be released on May 30th. This will include 20 more cars to collect, customize, and race. Car Pass owners will have access to the DLC packs without additional charges. And once players own the DLC car pack, they can add these to their garage without in-game credits or tokens.

Details about the July car pack will be released in the coming weeks, while we should know more about the June pack by this Friday.

LG G3 to get 2TB expansion support via microSD?

LG is set to unveil its latest flagship device this week and we’ve seen one leak after another about the G3. This time around a document from the company’s UK site shows that the microSD slot of the smartphone can support up to 2TB of storage. Now, this could be a typographical error or it could just mean LG is future-proofing its latest device to support the eventual arrival of 2TB microSD cards.

The other specs detailed on the document include those we’ve heard many times before—Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM, 5.5-inch display (1440x2560 resolution), 16GB internal storage, Android 4.4 KitKat, 3000mAh battery, and 13-megapixel rear camera.
