Some 4th-gen Echo speakers can detect motion

Amazon has started rolling out a new feature to the fourth-generation Echo and Echo Dot to detect if someone is in the room. It now emits an "inaudible ultrasound wave," so you can enable features like turning connected devices on and off when you enter a room.

Instagram tries out options for what you're seeing on your main feed

Instagram has been experimenting with how its main feed will look to its users. App research Alessandro Paluzzi posted on Twitter screenshots showing a secret test the company has been testing since late October, where you can select what shows up on your main feed. The company has added more tweaks suggesting it's expected to make a public release.

Right now, Instagram's main feed shows you new posts from accounts you follow, plus suggested posts from hashtags and other accounts. This new feature lets you decide what you can see, whether that's only from people you follow or those you marked as favourites.

Twitch is now accessible on the Nintendo Switch

Twitch has finally come to the Nintendo Switch, allowing you to watch live streams on this handheld. You will get the same functionality available on other consoles, like on-demand videos. The app is for watching streams but not for streaming. After all, the device doesn't have a camera, and you'll need to route video through a PC to create content with it.
